Lactation 101

There's always a fine print on all formula milk products that says:

Breast milk is still best for babies.

Ano daw?

Breast milk is still best for babies.

Based on my researches,

Breastmilk contains colostrum which the breast secretes the first few days after delivery. Yellow in color and thicker than later milk, colostrum is a rich mixture of antibodies and white blood cells. Colostrum is exactly what the baby needs immediately after birth for the protection it gives against harmful bacteria.

Breastmilk contains all the required nutrients a baby needs for the first 6 months of life.

Breastmilk provides...
...the right amount of the most suitable protein and fat.
...more lactose (baby fat) than most other milks, exactly what a baby needs.
...enough vitamins, making vitamin supplement and fruit juices, unnecessary.
...sufficient iron to prevent iron deficiency anemia.
...enough water for the baby even in a hot climate
...the correct amount os salt, calcium and phosphate.

Breastmilk is always ready to give, It needs no preparation.

Breastmilk is free. You don't have to buy it.

And here is the most amazing one:
Breastmilk is always in excellent condition even if the mother happens to be ill, pregnant, menstruating, or undernourished.

I really have a great God! Naisip niya yun?!

Kung ganun kadami ang benepisyo nito, bakit pinipili ng ibang mga nanay na mag trabaho para maka bili ng formula milk?

Too much, komersyalismo. Sayang ang likas na yaman.

Prayer for Motherhood:
Lovely Lady of La Leche, most loving mother of the Child Jesus, and my mother, listen to my humble prayer. Your motherly heart knows my every wish, my every need. To you only, His spotless Virgin Mother, has your Divine Son given to understand the sentiments which fill my soul. Yours was the sacred privilege of being the Mother of the Savior. Intercede with him now, my loving Mother, that, in accordance with His will, I may become the mother of other children of our heavenly Father. This I ask, O Lady of La Leche, in the Name of your Divine Son, My Lord and Redeemer. Amen.

Lord,
Thank you very much for this luxury
to be able to breastfeed my little prinsepe.
My nipples hurt like 50% of labor pains,
but this is just one little sacrifice for my Joaquin Pablo.
I offer all the pain for the sake of Your sorrowful passion,
have mercy on us and of the whole world.
Amen.
